Pseudodifferential operators are a useful tool to find inverses or approximate inverses of differential operators. The main idea is based on the Fourier transform and relates operators to their symbols. The theory of pseudodifferential operators is strongly related to the definition of suitable symbol classes and the calculus within these classes.
