This lecture course is a continuation of the theory part of the lecture PDE I, but can be visited independently of the first part. We develop the basis for an advanced theory of partial differential equations needed for a master thesis. The focus lies on the theory of elliptic and parabolic equations, main topics include operator semigroups and boundary value problems.

The abstract evolution equations approach enables us to investigate a large class of PDEs and to find properties of their solutions. This modern method for partial differential equations is based on operator theory and abstract methods from functional analysis.
