Content:

This lecture continues the theoretical part of the lecture "Theory and numerics of partial differential equations" but is also suitable for students who did not visit the first part. This lecture serves as a basis for more advanced topics in the theory of partial differential equations and is the first lecture of a related Master course.

We will discuss the following topics: Spectral theory of elliptic operators, theory of semigroups of operators and of evolution equations, applications to the wave equation and to thermoelasticity equations.

Prerequsite for this lecture is the knowledge of analysis on the Bachelor level, in particular functional analysis. Advantegeous is the knowledge of the first part mentioned above.

Literature:

A list of references can be found at the end of the lecture notes.

Lecture notes:

There are lecture notes (in German) which will be updated regularly. The lecture notes can be found in ILIAS.
