On 02snd February (Thursday) 2023 at 13:30, Prof. Dr. Carmen Gräßle from the Technische Universität Braunschweig will give a talk.

In this talk, we are concerned with phase field models governed by the Cahn-Hilliard equations. We consider a parametrized model where the parameters can enter e.g. through the initial condition or through parameters in the model equations. In order to construct a low-dimensional parametric model, we utilize the reduced basis technique with a POD-greedy approach. We study different kinds of potential energies, namely a smooth nonlinear and a nonsmooth double-obstacle energy. The latter one leads to a formulation involving a variational inequality such that it requires the construction of a reduced space for Lagrange multipliers. Numerical examples illustrate the approach.
