Abstract: We consider a relaxed/hyperbolized version of the 1-d compressible Navier-Stokes equations (rcNS). For a class of large data a blow-up of solutions in finite time is proved. This result contrasts the large-data-global existence result for the classical cNS, as well as the - qualitatively - same behavior of the linearized systems associated to cNS resp. rcNS.
