PhD in Mathematics

Are you interested in a PhD in mathematics or statistics?

The prerequisite for this is usually a master's degree in mathematics or statistics with an average grade of "good" or better, or a comparable degree. More detailed information can be found in the university's regulations for doctoral students.

If you meet the requirements for admission, you will need a supervisor for your planned doctoral project as a first step. For this purpose, please contact directly our professors in whose field of research you intend to do a doctorate. They will also support you in finding a suitable topic for your doctorate and advise you on financing options for your intended doctoral project.

Once you have found a supervisor and agreed on a topic for your PhD, please fill out the forms for the application for acceptance as a doctoral candidate and submit them to the departmental advisor.

If you are still unsure whether a doctorate is the right path for you, you can find some general information on the topic of doctoral studies (finding a topic, financing, ...) as well as on corresponding counseling services on the pages of the Academic Staff Development (ASD) and the Konstanz Research School.
